Description
Everyone one has heard of the Andrew Heliax LDF and FSJ range of coaxial cables with their characteristic corrugated copper outer shield.
Less well known are the FXL range that Andrew produce. The FXL range use a smoothwall aluminium outer shield whilst retaining the copper centre core of the LDF/AVA range.
What this achieves is LOWER LOSS, lighter weight and results in a lower cost product.
The use of the aluminium shield does not affect durability either – FXL-1480 is just as flexible and yet does not work harden like copper.
Let’s have a look at attenuation for FXL-1480 at, say, 450MHz compared to other common cables of this 1 1/4″ outer dimension:
FXL-1480 | 1.75dB |
AVA6-50 | 1.82dB |
LMR®1200 | 2.80dB |
